Volunteer since 2008 in the areas of Training and Certification<\/p>\n
Bart has been working for the Federal Police in Belgium since 1994 and attended the BCFE Germany training event in 2007.\u00a0 At the time, Bart was working Internet crime cases but had very little knowledge of computer forensics.\u00a0 While at the training event, he became acutely aware at how important computer forensic analysis was becoming.\u00a0 He thoroughly enjoyed his time at the event, learning and making new contacts from around the globe.\u00a0 Shortly thereafter, he received his CFCE certification and made his first row-coaching appearance at the Germany conference in 2008.<\/p>\n
Bart saw the importance of IACIS when he investigated a missing girl in his jurisdiction.\u00a0 This was at the time Surface Pro laptops first hit the market.\u00a0 Never having imaged one before, Bart posted to the IACIS listserv for assistance.\u00a0 Within 30 minutes, he received a white paper from an IACIS member in Australia explaining how to image the laptop.\u00a0 After Bart successfully imaged the device, a quick analysis revealed information that lead to the recovery of the missing child.\u00a0 This type of collaboration and professional assistance from a member 9,248 miles away meant a great deal to him.<\/p>\n
Bart\u2019s wife, Olivia, travels with him to Orlando frequently, and they can be seen walking quietly around the hotel grounds and enjoying each other\u2019s company at the pool, having a local drink, or listening to some local music. As a hobby, Bart likes to run, and he often combines the sport with his love for Disney.\u00a0 In 2018, Bart ran a half marathon at the Disney complex prior to making an early morning staff meeting at the Orlando event.\u00a0 In 2020, he took it one step further by running a half marathon prior to attending an early morning training meeting, and then turned around to run\/walk\/crawl a full marathon the next day!<\/p>\n
Currently, in addition to row coaching, Bart holds a leadership position on the IACIS Training Committee and is the Regional Training Coordinator for the European training event.<\/p>\n
