Volunteer since 2008 in the areas of Training, Certification, QA, and on the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
When Gene attended the BCFE course in 2007, it was a class size of approximately 150 students. He still remembers how impressed he was when he walked into the class on the first morning and was further inspired by the quality of the instruction and the experience of the staff.<\/p>\n
Gene was in criminal investigations for the Flagstaff Police Dept when he joined IACIS. He left as a Detective Sergeant in August of 2013 to pursue a career in incident response with IBM. While the transition was very difficult for him, his LE experience and IACIS pulled him through.\u00a0 He is now the Vice President of IR Delivery for AON Cyber Solutions and managing a virtual team of 10 analysts.<\/p>\n
One of his favorite parts about being a volunteer is trying to inspire and convince new students that, if he could do it, they can too! Another is to encourage them to be involved. For Gene, there is no greater reward than being told a year or two later that he inspired a student to persevere and ultimately come back to volunteer for IACIS.<\/p>\n
Gene is grateful for IACIS providing him the opportunities to travel the world, make lifelong friends and connections, and advanced his career further than he could have imagined.<\/p>\n
Outside of work, Gene enjoys hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle in what he happily calls the prettiest state in the US. Arizona is the only state with one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest, and offers a low and a high desert, as well as mountains and volcanos.\u00a0 Gene recently started making knives and finds it to be a great outlet to decompress after work.\u00a0 You will never find one of his knives cutting a pizza with pineapple, which he strongly feels should be outlawed.<\/p>\n
