Volunteer since 2002 in the areas of Training, Certification, Marketing, Ethics, and as Chairman of the Board.<\/p>\n
Working at a department with a lack of funding early in his career, Darren was in dire need to find an association for training, certification, and peer assistance. When he attended his first IACIS event and watched the IACIS machine in action, he knew its value and wanted to be involved. He sees its enormous potential, which motivates him to continue volunteering after 20+ years to help make it even greater.<\/p>\n
The majority of Darren\u2019s career has been in service of law enforcement, working for the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC).\u00a0 He also worked for Nuix for 6 years.\u00a0 Darren is the founder and Managing Director of Lock and Code Pty Ltd.\u00a0 Lock and Code exists to create software & resources to assist the digital forensics community.<\/p>\n
Outside of work, Darren is a devoted husband of 20 years and a father of two.\u00a0 You\u2019ll see him at his son\u2019s cricket matches, which average four hours a game, twice a week.\u00a0 He and his son are loyal supporters of their rugby team, the Melbourne Storm. Although Darren does not play group sports himself, he exercises one hour a day.\u00a0 A 5km swim or 22km run are not uncommon.<\/p>\n
If he\u2019s not out to meet his crew of friends to demolish large servings of dumplings, Darren is at home using his Thermomix to create desserts, juices, and soups.\u00a0 Every month, he awaits a fancy package from his whisky club, and it\u2019s a single malt scotch that holds a special place in his heart.<\/p>\n
He enjoys his home in Melbourne and is within walking distance of the Australian Open Tennis Tournament, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).\u00a0 Although some consider Melbourne the coffee capital of Australia, it\u2019s a hard no for him on coffee, right alongside coriander and Disney World.<\/p>\n
