As the IACIS Training Coordinator, Zach has the opportunity to share his passion for mentoring others. He attributes the growth of his skills and abilities to his phenomenal mentors at IACIS. After seeing many examiners attend vast amounts of training but struggle to advance their skills, he is motivated to increase the potential of any student through mentorship, which is why he believes the CFCE process is so valuable. He feels that those in digital forensics should be lifelong students, striving to learn new skills every day and seeking mentors to propel their skills upward.<\/p>\n
In his current role at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, he manages two technical teams with two very different missions. The first team is the Digital Forensic Lab made up of members from four agencies in Central Oregon, where Zach started as a Detective, promoted to Digital Forensic Sergeant, and now oversees lab management. He also oversees the daily operation of the Information Technology team, focusing on customer service and providing\/building technology-based business solutions that streamline and enhance security for the staff\u2019s workflow.<\/p>\n
Outside of his profession and IACIS, Zach\u2019s passion is his time with his wife and son.\u00a0 They enjoy playing sports together, traveling, watching movies, loving on their Australian Labradoodle named Finn, and enjoying all the great outdoor activities in Bend, Oregon. Zach and his family are likely to be found on the basketball court, at home, sports camps, or at their son\u2019s school. Both Zach and his wife have coached not only their son’s sports teams but also competitive basketball teams as well.<\/p>\n
